Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Two years later she became general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was made the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform as well as the Iran Contra saga. She travelled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
